Public Awareness Award

Description

This award is intended to encourage and stimulate increased public awareness of zoology through articles in the popular press that deal with environmental, biological or zoological issues. The article will have been published in any recognized newspaper or periodical available to the public.

This award is intended to encourage and stimulate increased public awareness of zoology through articles in the popular press that deal with environmental, biological or zoological issues. The communication will have been distributed in any recognized media outlet available to the public.

Award

The award comprises a $100 cash prize and a scroll. If the recipient is not already a member of the Canadian Society of Zoologists, a 1-year free membership will be awarded by the Society.

Frequency of Availability

Maximum of one per year. The award need not be made every year.

Application/Nomination Procedures

Nominations or applications should be made to the Chair of the Recognition Committee (the Past-President). Nominations may be made by any CSZ member or may be submitted by the author. The application should include a copy of the article and information about the publication in which it appeared. The article should have been published within the 12 months preceding the deadline.
