Consult on Humane Vertebrate Pest Control by Apr. 18th

Deadline extended to April 18th!

Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency is inviting consultation on the use of pesticides to control “vertebrate pests”. Given the expertise many CSZ members possess, The CSZ Executive Council wants to draw member attention to this announcement (despite the late notice).

Wolf Awareness, a research, education, and conservation organization, has forwarded an open letter for our consideration. Please click to see the letter, and addendum.

Additional information below is taken directly from the official Health Canada website.

Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) acknowledges growing concerns among Canadians about the use of pesticides to control large predators and the unintended effects on non-target animals. The PMRA is consulting Canadians on how the humaneness of pesticides to control predators could be considered during the approval and use of pesticides.
